Tarrytown is a charming neighborhood in central Austin. Just west of downtown and the north-south corridor of MoPac, Tarrytown is ripe with historical and remodeled homes and offers an appealing blend of “old Austin” and modern convenience. Many residents value the small town feel they can find here, running into neighbors at area parks, stores, and schools, while still being only moments away from downtown’s businesses and museums. Originally established as an official subdivision in 1915, its popularity at the time grew in large part because of its successful advertising slogan, “Where oak trees charm the eye.” Add another 100 years of tree growth, and you can begin to see why Tarrytown’s beautiful tree canopy is an important element of this neighborhood! Homes in Tarrytown are varied. Potential buyers will find a mix ranging from small, restored but near original cottages, to remodeled and expanded homes, to new estate homes. A few homes in the western portion of Tarrytown will be lakeside along Lake Austin. In general, homes in Tarrytown are priced higher than many areas of town, due to their quality and location. Homes are upscale and often will range into the millions.
